Born in Roumania, he emigrated to Israel in 1944 and fought in the War of Independence. He studied in the Bezalel School of Art and later in Holland and Ravenna. In 1958, he returned to Jerusalem to work in a variety of media: oil, watercolour, chalk mosaic and silver. He strives to attain a synthesis between reality and abstraction as well as between reality and imagination. He had exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institute-Washington, Museum of Modern Art in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and other museums worldwide. He has held one man shows in England, France, Belgium, Germany, and the US. He is best known for his scenes of Jerusalem chosen by the Ministry of Tourism as prestige posters.
